Managing exercise & training in eating disorders: For health professionals (In French)

Gain expertise in how to manage one of the most difficult aspects of eating disorder treatment in athletes: training & exercise.

Overview

This 3h training will equip you to better manage compulsive exercise and training in in clients suffering from eating disorders. As a healthcare professionals, it’s normal to feel unequipped when it comes to providing recommendations in this area.

During this training, we will help you better identify the presence of compulsive exercise in your clients/patients, guide you through specific guidelines to determine when a modification in training habits is necessary, offer concrete recommendations on the optimal ways to manage training in a consultation context, and help you understand your role within the interdisciplinary team. You will leave with greater confidence in ensuring safety and facilitating optimal progress in the treatment of eating disorders for your clients.

Objectives

  1. Identify the presence of compulsive exercise in our clients.
  2. Identify the differences between training to enhance performance versus training to manage anxiety about body shape & weight.
  3. Learn the different ways in which we can intervene when managing training & exercise.
  4. Define the respective roles of the dietitian, medical doctor and mental health practitioner in managing training and how to best work together as an interdisciplinary team.
  5. Get equipped with guidelines and protocols that will help you make complex decisions around managing exercise & training.
