How to help clients/patients understand eating disorders to facilitate treatment
Overview
This 1-hr training will help you better understand the vicious cycle of an eating disorder and how to present the problem to your clientele in a way that helps them understand the importance of treatment. A step-by-step plan for how to present the eating disorder to a client is outlined and as well as a model for how to help your clients understand their symptoms. Concrete examples and tools are presented to help guide you in your interventions after the training.
Objectives
1.Understand the importance of a complete and in-depth initial assessment.
2.Know how to perform an initial intervention if the client/patient is unaware of the problem.
3.Help the client/patient understand the vicious cycle of an eating disorder. Understand the links between concerns (eating, body image), control behaviors (restriction, exercise, others), and loss of control (binge eating episodes).
4.Understand what can explain/triggers binge episodes.
