Learn how to use a food journal in the treatment of eating disorders

Overview

This 1h15 training will help you better understand the role of a food journal in the treatment of eating disorders. The food journal can be a useful tool, for both the dietitian and the therapist. In this training you will learn in which contexts it can be helpful and how it can be adapted to the specific needs of your clients, based on the symptoms they are experiencing. Examples of food journals will be presented, as well as how to translate the information from a journal into concrete treatment goals.

Objectives

1.Learn the role of the food diary in the treatment of eating disorders.
2.Understand the nuances to consider based on the type of ED and intrapersonal issues.
3.Know in which contexts its use will be helpful and necessary, and in which others it may constitute a barrier to treatment.
4.Learn how to manage the food diary in consultation: How to start off on the right foot and how to use it during follow-ups.
5.Understand how to use the information collected: What nutritional/psychological interventions can result from it.
